Default Tame Impala - Innerspeaker

So this is a contemporary psychedelic pop band from Perth, Australia. Their music brings back what was good about the late sixties, early seventies psychedelic scene and gives it a contemporary twist. I don't say this often but their music changed my life kinda. It made me who I am today. It taught me to chill the **** out. This is why.

It Is Not Meant to Be

This is a hopeless love song. The reverb is fantastic ( you're going to hear me saying that a lot ) and it almost feels like a dream. You can't help but hear John Lennons ghost in this song, the voice is so beautifully chilled out.

Desire Be, Desire Go

This song reminds me of the Beatles and is one of the rockier songs of the album. The solo at the end is pretty beautiful too. I also love the chorus.

" Everyday, back and forth, whats it for? Whats it for? "

The reverb is superb!

Alter Ego

One of my favourite songs on the album. I will never forget driving through the irish countryside with all the windows open in a sunny day, the wind blowing through my hair and the beautiful scenery all around me, and this song floating around the car. It was ****ing beautiful and I will always remember the summer of 2010 when I hear this song. Another moment where the song brings you somewhere ( at least for me!) you've never really been before. It is quite poppy but also quite ethereal. Very positive love song.( even though it is about not really being able to get the girl of his dreams )

The reverb is superb!

Lucidity

Another amazing song on the album, I also love the chorus of this song, another great summer song. This song for me is one of the most "psychedelic" songs on the album.

Why Won't You Make Up Your Mind

This song is repetetive but at the same time incredibly beautiful. One thing about this album I love is the repetition in the songs, it kind of feels like it is going to go on forever ( like the universe or something ) and it immedietly puts me at ease. This live version is pretty special.

Solitude Is Bliss

This is the main single of the album, catchy and psychedelic. And its about not giving a **** what people think about you and realizing that your mind is the most amazing thing you have ( I think its about tripping out )

Jeremy's Storm

Great instrumental piece in the middle of the album. I remember playing this to my friend one night when he was really stoned and when it had just finished he went..... " ......................................Woah........ "

Expectation

Another one of my favourites from the album. I also love the live " Everything you could have told me could have been a lie, we may never have been in love " that repeats throughout the song. I also love the changes in the song.

The Bold Arrow of Time

This song is one of the coolest on the album and the heaviest. It feels like a 70's acid song. I love the solo and the arrow and time theme to the song.

Runway, Houses, City, Clouds

My favourite song on the album. Just....amazing. Everything about it. The build up, the reverb, the voice, the end.

I Don't Really Mind

Probably my least favourite song on the album, but I love the end part.

Island Walking

This song is like Jimi Hendrix and John Lennon had sex. It is really summery and psych poppy.

I really liked this album even though I know a lot of people dismissed it as average indie rock doo. Something about it is very early-seventies, like you said.

I don't think its average indie rock at all! I think it is different from a lot of the stuff going on in the music world today.

Sure was. The next one is just around the corner. Kevin has described it as
" Apocalyptic Motown "

" Its ,like a mixture of really dark psychedelic music and Britney Spears " ^^
