Default the Villains- Velocity

I am loving this album right now, so many great songs I never feel the need to click through to something good. I just recently heard these guys on the Bing lounge podcast and decided to give it a try. Reminded me of a modern day Eagles, or Petty. They include a lot of country influence without really ever being country, and when they rock, they rock. The first guitar riffs on 'Cadillac' had me head nodding right away. Reminded me of Cheap Trick for some reason. 'I've got a feeling' was an upbeat positive rocker that never felt fluffy even with its familiar lyrics. 'Rainy Day Girl' is an elegant breath of fresh air with a classic feel. 'Your the only right' and 'Adelien' are both country-ish acoustic numbers a la the Eagles or Pure Prarie League. 'Down for the Last Time' sounds like an unreleased Petty tune from Damn the Torpedoes. I really liked this record and it made me happy to know some bands still play great songs with a simple formula. Check it out.
