Rush- Caress Of Steel
Despite it unpopular release, it remains ones of hard/prog rocks (or as I dubb it, liquidprogressive) best examples of how the craft is/was done.
Caress of Steel, Rush's 3rd release album, presented stellar album art along with a heavy sounding title that so well described the cadence of the tracks. Released in 1975, the album was given gold status in 1993 by the RIAA. Despite its dissapointing outcome, it is now recognized as an epic collection of music for all classic rock era fans. "Epic" tracks like "The Necromancer" and the "Fountain of Lamenth", totaled over 26mins of liquidprog goodness and gave a display of the Canadian Trio's incredible musical ablilites. The widely accepted and successful postlude to the Caress of Steel album , 2112, featured much of the same 70's dark space feel of its unpopular prelude Caress of Steel. 2112 featured a mind-blowingly long 21minute track giving testament to Rush's epic compostion ablities between the two albums. Without any furthers, a great cut from this album. Edit: fkin youtube links http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW72Gmqjse4 |

Fixed the youtube link for you. When you're embedding youtube videos don't put the entire url inside the youtube tags, just use everything after the "?v=". In this case, for example, it would look like this (without the spaces): [ youtube ]GW72Gmqjse4[/ youtube ]

I'm not the biggest Rush fan by any means. I watched the documentary "Rush: Beyond the lighted stage" and Geddy said something along the lines of "You either hate rush or you love them."
That being said, I neither hate them or love them. I really like the cover album they put out, and their single "working man". But i haven't heard much else by them that I like. I do however know some people that are obsessed with the band and think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. |

I don't LOVE Rush, I really respect and like and appreciate them. But you need more Rush, and I can really recommend Test For Echo album or single, Snakes and Arrows album (or "Far Cry" and "Armor and Sword" singles). That's a different RUSH recommendation than most would probably give but I stand by it. Also, Beyond the Lighted Stage was really interesting... |
