I agree on this. Although there are some points where it does follow the critics a bit and I might not agree at times.

We all start off looking at the famous albums critics have acclaimed, but then you leave them and explore more and you are more on your own and the better for it.

No way. Critics have listed this alot over the years, definitely not underrated. I haven't found it that special myself.

They pretty much helped create the sound of indie rock, not to mention they were very important in the punk scene in the 70's.

Great list, but like I previously said... no Hendrix album.

I'm not sure if they were the ones who created a particular guitar sound, there were plenty of garage bands in the 60s for example. But even if they were I don't rank things according to influence but according to whether I think the music is interesting or great enough. Some quite boring music has probably been influential at times, and the way that music heads is partly about just changing tasts in fashion anyway, and that is more chance than anything.

lol, exactly what is the point in posting another "typical top album list"? I'm sorry the lack of typicality is upsetting you, but you can go ahead and read The Rolling Stone 500 and avoid this thread if you want. I won't khy, and I'm not going to stop posting just because you hate reading anything that isn't what you wanted it to be. I don't try to avoid typical choices at all (I think several of these are quite typical), I just don't like the **** you do.

Love the Gilberto Gil album! My favorite Tropicalia album. Kinda by far, though I love the Tropicalia: Panis et Circenses compilation as well. Would have loved to see one of the albums Caetano Veloso released in the seventies on here, though. A Little More Blue, Araca Azul and Joia are all classics.

But great lists all around.
