This is a really good, well thought out review. This is the first Weezer album I bought and loved it. I still do but, to me Pinkerton is their best album. There are so many classic, radio friendly songs here yet they don't sound overly mainstream at all. Their sound is uniquely their's If I was to classify Weezer sound in any genre I would say modern power pop.

Great review for a great album. Definitely their best. I know most people don't have much time for anything they did after Pinkerton, but I actually like a couple of songs from most of their albums. The difference being those albums also have a lot of crap, whereas this album is quality through and through.
And with the genre discussion, I'd probably have to lean to pop/rock or powerpop, because I view stuff like Beyonce as "pop" |
