Anyone calling Yankee Hotel Foxtrot alt-country needs to get out more.

Nice review. I am a big Wilco fan and I've never understood why country has been used to classify them.

Great album but not my favorite by them.

I think it has a lot to do with where they came from. Uncle Tupelo, Jeff Tweedy's previous band, was apparently alt country, and some of Wilco's better known songs are easier to classify under that heading than, say, the meaningless Alternative genre.

People should just give them a listen.

Yeah I can definetly see country with Uncle Tupelo but I've always thought of Wilco as more alt-folk. But maybe thats just because I hate country and don't want to call Wilco country.

Definitely has to do with Uncle Tupelo as well as A.M. and Being There. Yankee Hotel Foxtrot has more Krautrock than it does alt-country.

I never knew who Wilco was until I took a business of music class, and my professor made us watch the dvd about the making of yankee hotel foxtrot. Now to this day I hug my business of music professor when I see him walking through the halls. Wilco is amazing.
