I have it on my Bose System @ home on shuffle. That's how much I love the soundtrack. The reason why I enjoy listening to this so much stems from bringing back some of the best memories of my life during the period this movie came out. I was still in high school and experiencing this love/hate relationship with my neighbor who was in the same grade. We wound up becoming friends and he went with me to see this movie along w/ my brother and his sister. A year later when it came out on cable, I saw it again with Malcom (my neighbor), but this time we spent half the time watching it and the other half embracing and kissing. We're still quite close today as he is married with one son and living 5,000 miles away in Vienna working for Red Bull GPH (Yes, "The" Red Bull energy drink).
Getting back on-topic, the one piece that I relate to the most is probably the most popular: The Sacrifice. This was playing during the scene where Stewart (the person that Holly Hunter's character Ada was supposed to marry in New Zealand) had the audacity to sell Ada's piano to their neighbor George (who is Harvey Keitel's character). I really felt for her because in the movie, Ada is a mute: The only thing that she can connect to in this "strange" land (her and her daughter Flora arrived to Southern New Zealand from Scotland) besides her daughter. Anyway, it's a beautiful score. I also recommend listening to Micheal Nyman's score for the movie "The Libertine." That one is really good too.
