Make Yourself by Incubus
Make Yourself by Incubus
This album is definitely one of Incubus’s best to date. The use of their DJ really shows in this entire album, yet keeps that same Incubus sound that we love. Overall it is a Great follow up to S.C.I.E.N.C.E. which was a good album but seemed out of order and messy at times. Make Yourself all seems to fit and work in the order the tracks are in. The first track Privilege is a great energetic start to the album, but does not necessarily set the mood. There are many songs which sound very different such as Drive which is one of my favorites on the album, and Battlestar Scralatchtica. BS is my personal favorite because of how is completely different than anything they have really put out and utilizes scratching very well. Also a lot more funk influence was put into this album than any of their previous attempts. Also another standout track is Pardon Me. This song has wonderful lyrics, and is put together very well. (hence my signature) Overall this album is the best Incubus has put out. Morning View, A Crow Left of the Murder, and Light Grenades, which all came after were very good, but not the same as Make Yourself. This album really put Incubus on the map, and let there fanbase grow. Rating: 9/10 One of my favorite albums with great replay value, and shows Incubus growing as musicians.

IMO Morning View and SCIENCE were better than Make Yourself. But still an awesome album.

I love this album. I wouldn't be the Incubus fan I was without. Personally, I think sometimes the album you are exposed to first grows on you more. But I feel more towards Morning View the way you feel about Make Yourself. Because Morining View was one of my favorite first albums I ever bought when I first really got into music.
"Out From Under," "Stellar" and "The Warmth are great songs too. |
