Sunny Day Real Estate "The Rising Tide"
Sunny Day Real Estate "The Rising Tide"
Label: Time Bomb Recordings Release Date: June 20, 2000 Genre: Post-Emo/Indie-Rock Tracklist: 1. Killed By An Angel 2. One 3. Rain Song 4. Disappear 5. Snibe 6. The Ocean 7. Fool In The Photograph 8. Tearing In My Heart 9. Television 10. Faces In Disguise 11. The Rising Tide This is probably my favorite Sunny Day album, I think it sounds much more cohesive and finished than Diary. I think it shows their growth as musicians, and Jeremy as a vocalist and songwriter. Not to say Diary was bad I just think it seems premature in comparison to this album. The album opens with Killed By An Angel and I like how well the vocals fit with the music, Jeremy has an amazing voice and I think it he goes along with the instruments so well here. I love how the songs are such a trip without being boring, for instance in One, the intro when it kicks and Jeremy yells "And its strange / How were wasting our lives/ Novocain / When the pain helps us rise / Here we stay" and then it slows down to an acoustic break and he sings "though its only a clever game" it sounds fantastic. The album has a nice sense of blance with acoustic tracks like "Rain Song" which is my favorite Sunny Day Real Estate song ever, I think the lyrics are amazing and the way the chorus sounds is just beautiful and the louder songs like "Disappear". I think the whole album is a trip and goes from more louder songs like Killed By An Angel to quiet and mellow ones like The Ocean perfectly. I think the only problem I have with the album is alot of times it can seem slightly contrived in certain moods because it all flows together well and sounds too clean, and sometimes the lyrics are dumb in parts with lines like "Shes in my head / Like Television" but for the most part the lyrics are solid with imagery like "We sink like stones / And we're lost beneath the waves / Not a trace to mark the graves." Despite that its easily one of my favorite albums ever and has been for the past year and i've yet to tire of it. Rating: 8/10 Link: hxxp://www.mediafire.com/?722ldmzk9xt |
