Kingskin - Last Ride Home
Last Ride Home is a great record but I'm not sure it has enough of an original edge to go anywhere commercially. I don't see how it can be marketed as anything new.
There are catchy riffs aplenty, great vocals and melodies but at the end of the day it sounds dated to me. I ask for people to respond and say they disagree - really - the music is great and I want to be proven wrong with this! I found the following review elsewhere: Last Ride Home starts off well with a nice guitar hook but then the song peters off into 80s US middle of the road rock. Its done well. Very well even but it isn’t the most modern sound you could listen to at the moment. They’re like Rooster but with a bit less spark and a bit more gruffness. Bon Jovi with a bit more youth and a bit less cheese. The second track Bottom Dollar is catchy and will no doubt have people drumming on their steering wheels. It’s evokes the kind of good feeling I get from listening to Dancing in The Moonlight by Toploader. But I should shhhhh there because this is far more credible to the youth of today that Toploader will ever be. Track three is a bit heavier, more grungy – a slice of Black Crows, a pinch of Pearl Jam and a splash of Reef. Your thoughts? I think its out now. kingskin.com |
