It shows not only the parents' parenting skills but their intelligence as well.
My parents are both smart people. But thanks for calling them stupid because they spanked me! I mean, they only raised two soon-to-be college grads who've hardly ever been in trouble and have always treated their parents with total respect. What morons!!!

That's funny, reading this thread it seems like it's mostly the pro-physical discipline crowd that are super sensitive about the subject and have this idea stuck in their heads that no physical discipline means no discipline.
Eh, I think it's basically the anti-spanking crowd being shocked and outraged to a small degree, while the pro-spanking crowd is more trying to defend their choice and kinda thinking "WTF people are actually shocked by this??" I don't really get the "idea stuck in their heads that no physical discipline means no discipline" vibe at all. Maybe that's just how I have been thinking, I don't want to speak for everyone that is pro-physical discipline.

Guys this is going nowhere...
If it were up to me, I'd put a friggin' lock on this mess.
Where did you think this was going, s_k? Did you want people's opinion to change on whether they should spank their kids? This thread is for discussing physical discipline on kids, and that's is exactly what is being talked about here. Not to go too off-topic too much, but I get so annoyed with people and their "lock this thread already" attitudes. Christ, it's a forum for talking about stuff and that's exactly what we are doing here.
