I have to say I find your description of those two albums as "a lot of dissonant noises that fade in and out every 2 or 6 minutes" very surprising. There are some amazing, quite structured and melodic songs on both those albums. "Killing for Company" off of
The Great Annihilator is seriously one of my favorite songs of all time. Gorgeous instrumentation, amazing dynamic, also really depressing. It's very hard for me to imagine listening to a song like that and not finding it an least distinct sounding.
