The A410 is really a great little camera.
It's just old and slow, but back in the day (and still) it's taking pretty nice pictures.
If you're into messing with photography a bit but still want a compact camera, go for the Powershot SX210IS. If you just want to take pictures and have a camera you can carry easily, go for the Ixus 110IS (in the US that's called the Powershot SD960).
They're both great little camera's. The SX210IS offers a lot more in the way of settings. The lens is a bit better, the screen is a bit better, the zoom is brilliant (14 times is beautiful for concerts) But if it's just a camera to take to gigs, parties and friends (snapshot stuff) Don't bother spending all that money and go for the cheap Ixus 110IS (Powershot SD960). It's really value for money.

Want to go dirt cheap? Canon powershot A495. It's not much, but it's a nice camera for less than 80 dollars. It's fast, it's simple. It just works.

See what suits you. I have an SX200IS and an EOS 30D. I'm a bit spoiled I guess.

And whatever you do, don't throw your old camera away. There's always someone really happy with it, somewhere .
