I'd say that a term like "classic rock" has to move with the times. To me music that was very popular and/or an influence on the music we listen to today has to be considered classic. An earlier poster mentioned Ratt, Cinderella and Motley Crue. To me I can still put that stuff on and enjoy a lot of things about it today. Of course what is classic to one may not be classic to another... Rod Stewarts "Maggie May" is played on the local classic rock station here all the time but is it classic to me?? NO WAY! But I can understand its place under the classic rock umbrella... even if I do want to somehow reach through the radio and choke out the DJ for making me listen to it!
