That's possibly the "Circle Gets the Win" answer, although of course the right amount of promotion has to be thrown in. G and R did arrive at a time in The US when radio stations were possibly begging for something which resembled the 70's Rock they never wanted to part with by the time they arrived. Crue and Poison were staples fine enough, but they were quite "Visual" when compared to Axl, Slash, and the rest of the gang. Thanks to having an ace guitarist, the road to stardom was started to be paved.
