Edmondson may play it for laughs but he's no musical slacker. His slightly off key trumpet playing is the same kind of musical dissonance used by the best players of bebop and free jazz. Thelonious Monk was notorious for deliberately hitting sharp or flat notes for an ironic effect. Edmonson's Celtic band is no bunch of slouches either.... the Bad Shepherd's lineup has former members of such notable bands as Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull and the Maddy Prior Band.
I have one question for you, Jackhammer. Didn't Edmondson release a hilarious novelty song about being stalked by members of the Rolling Stones? I heard it a few years back and I've never been able to find it in the USA. It's possible that he didn't record the song but it sure sounded like him.
