i would say its along the same lines as the differances between glam metal, heavy metal, death metal, black metal, etc. etc. just another way for someone to say theyre punk but not like so and so who obviously isnt punk at all cuz he listens to this and that band instead of this or that band. It happends to every scene that has been around long enough for it to evolve and branch out, people trying to put a new twist on an old style by calling it something differant.
