I don't understand this relentless hounding of managers.England's so called "Golden Generation" have been managed by the following.
Sven-Goran Erikson- won the UEFA Cup with a semi-professional Swedish side, and titles in Sweden,Portugal and Italy before taking the England job

Steve McClaren-Alex Ferguson's assistant during United's peak, and took Middlesborough to a UEFA Cup Final and their first major trophy.Since managing England has won a maiden Dutch title with Twente.

Fabio Capello-Managed an AC Milan team considered to be the strongest of the 1990's, and has also won silverware at every team he has ever managed bar England.

Oddly enough, given all three have proven themselves to be excellent managers, it may be the players that are the problem.
