Men don't *have* to piss standing up. They can sit down if they want to, if they don't mind a little body contortion or scooting backward to aim themselves downward. So then the toilet seat can stay down all the time, and everyone's happy! Especially me, because I dislike the smell of aerosolized urine from men standing and splattering their urine into the toilet.
Besides, let's say a man and woman live together, and each uses the toilet six times daily, as shown below:
AVERAGE DAILY TOILET USE PER PERSON:
2 BMs (plus urine)
4 urinations alone (sans poo)
Then altogether, assuming the man wants the seat up for urinating, the toilet seat should be down 8/12 of the time...so it is reasonable to try to make sure the seat is down rather than up since it needs to be down more frequently.
But now I'm wondering...when men have to urinate AND have a BM at the same toilet session, don't most men just sit down to do the whole thing at one time? Or do they stand up and urinate first, and THEN sit down to have a BM, poor sods?
Because if you DO sit down and crap and urinate at the same time, then there is little excuse for urinating while standing at other times and leaving the lid up for the next unfortunate user to deal with.
