honestly, and i found this out from the best producer in my area, sm57's can be used to mic all drums real well. maybe getting a beta bass drum mic too. and for overheads, any good condenser mics will do. (make sure your board is phantom powered at least 48v). i use 57s on my rack, snare, and floor tom. a beta in the bass and two mxl condeser overhead mics.
