Glad to see Tones on Tail mentioned. I sometimes enjoy them even more than Bauhaus.
I just remembered another goth band - Clan Of Xymox. This below is the title track from Medusa (1986)
A European band (I think) from the mid 80s (maybe they still exist) who borrowed a lot from Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, New Order, Joy Division but wasn't as good.
Did I say Joy Division? I know, I know, they weren't exactly goth rock, but they had the major influence on it. Without them, I'm not gonna say that goth rock wouldn't exist, but it would've been very different. So I think they deserve a mention. 'Decades' - what is more gothic romantic than lamenting over the passing of time? ...where have they been...
And I know that Cure has been already mentioned, but I have to post this song. It sounds like a soundtrack to some Vincent Price movie. 'Three' from Seventeen Seconds, my favorite Cure album.
