I've never read someone's description of math rock and could figure out why bands like King Crimson and Henry Cow can't fall into the category, or even bands like Tool. The description is way too vague, it can cover a whole lot of ground and yet indie kids keep insisting on how specific it is.

Math and Post Rock is prog for indie kids. I admit I should try getting into them more, they have been hit or miss with me, they're great stuff like Battles and Godspeed. But I can't get into Slint or the more generic post rock that just drags on and on and on. Experimental music is supposed to have a sense of adventure, just making droning noise is lazy.
