Ok, bad phrasing, sorry.
What kind of psychoanalysis sessions? What kind of things have to be determined before surgery is an option?
I know sex changes aren't something you can just get at a f*cking drive thru, but I think its important to determine weither someones desire for transurgery is born out of genuine dysphoria or something that could only be a temporary emotional state influenced by social matters rather than biological ones.
Like say a homosexual man has extreme conflicts about his orientation and only wants to be a woman to rationalize his sexual lifestyle as a heterosexual one. Or a woman only wants to be a man because she thinks men have more freedoms. As in, not a genuine detachment from their biological sex.
I don't think personal esteem issues like that are treatable by sex change.
I'm not saying most transgender people don't have gender dysphoria, but I know there are examples of people who regret their decision, it's not that common, and detransitions are extremely rare, but it's still a possible outcome and should be a great concern for everyone involved.
