That happens everywhere, and for many possible reasons. For instance, imagine a footballer you intensely hate just because he plays in your team's rival League club. One day you find an excuse to criticize him, but instead of doing it in strictly sport terms, you prefer to mess with him

That's a chaotic mixture of many things. Sorry, but I don't understand you. I didn't refer to nationalist points of view but to the general political leanings of the Spanish press. To emphasize that those supposed xenophobic or racist attitudes you mentioned would be very frowned upon among the mainstream media.
