Owing to the world cup, I haven't set a lot of time aside for much else, let alone film, so this is my first one for a while...
Based on a novel of the same name by some geezer whose name I've forgotten, this fascinating movie documents (although no doubt fictionalises here and there) the Massacre Of St Bartholomew in 1572. As I say, absolutely fascinating stuff which captures the essence of such a violent, intolerant part of not only French but western European history in general, made all the more absorbing by some terrific performances from the main cast (especially good old Isabelle Adjani).
Top marks for this one then.
