Yeah but it was still crap. It's based on the same novel that Michael Mann's (Heat, Public Enemies) movie Manhunter was and Mann's movie (although it has dated) remains a classic psychological thriller with more intelligence and nuance than Red Dragon has the entire running time.
I watched Manhunter and Red Dragon back to back to remain unbiased and it still sucked.
