I don't think Cruise is a bad actor really, certainly not a great one but he does have charisma and personality that makes him pretty entertaining in his best films. I thought he was very good in Rain Man, Jerry Mcguire, Born on the Fourth of July and Minority Report. And he was pretty hilarious in Tropic Thunder.

I think people delight in calling him a terrible actor simply because he's a colossal assh*le.
