I can sympathize with this to an extant, BUT all genres of music eventually move from the underground to become commercially profitable. If record companies think they can make profit off of it they will, they'll take it and water it down to make it more appealing to a larger audience.
I was in highschool when Nirvana broke. I thought this was it, the world is finally going to go punk as ****, but all that happened is a thousand pearl jam clones got signed, and labelled alternative.
Black Sabbath in the 70's was considered underground because it was too heavy and dark for many people to be commercially viable, now its just considered classic rock.
Metallica and megadeth in the 80's was considered too hard to become commercially viable now its just considered middle of the road.
When Flordia broke out (ie; Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Morbid Saint) and then Scandanavia, it was too hard for a lot of thrashers I knew to swallow, but not for future generations. The shock value wears off and even extreme metal becomes digestable to the general public.
When melodic hardcore broke out to wash away the likes of The Exploited and Black Flag, did I like the Offspring, no not really, but did I hate the whole genre....no. I still listen to Pennywise, Rancid, Snuff ect.
Do I like Killswitch Engage no....but hear is wear I endure the wrath of internet hate. Parkway Drive, I killed the Prom Queen, Bleeding Through, Bring Me The Horizon, and dare I even say...Bullet for My Valentine are all bands I can listen to. I think Parkway Drive rocks, and that's all I can say.
In every commercial wave of metal there will always be poser bands that have no roots in the underground (ie Limp Biscuit) the best u can hope for is they get weeded out.

If you read my post carefully you'd see I said "It very carefully dissects various elements of extreme metal". Essentially what I mean by that is it's forcibly removing what makes extreme metal extreme and I have a problem with that. It's like declawing a cat, it needs those elements for it to be what it is. Metal has always been an outsiders genre for outsider people, and to me metalcore is trying to make it into something that the people who use to beat me up (and many others) into something for those bullies to enjoy. Most people found a kind of solace in death metal, a cathartic release for all that teenager angst/anger.
I don't really care if the bands are commercially profitable or not, I'll be the first to admit that I like bands like Godsmack, In Flames, etc. but I just can't stomach these Frankenstein ripoffs that bastardize an exclusive genre of music that I can honestly say got me through high school.
If you like metalcore then that's your prerogative and I'm not the type of person to berate someone for what kind of music they listen to, unless they're spouting out that it's the best thing in the world and everything else sucks, then we've got a problem.
That's just my honest opinion on metalcore and why so many metalheads have issues with it.
