Why is it ridiculous? The Floyd began as a free form concert band after all. Studio craft is not the be all and end all. If they began this way then DSOTM is the pinnacle but they were completely different to this starting out and I love their organic approach to music which was lost on DSTOM. Doesn't mean my views are right but then it means neither are yours.
The band love the album and have said so but they also said that there was nowhere to go after this album so I regard it indifferently.
