Cincinnati is in Ohio and is a fairly large city, like 30th in the U.S. in population. It also happens to be my hometown, although I grew up in Detroit.
As for The Greenhornes, they have released a compilation album,
Sewed Soles (produced by Jack White), if you don't hate that sort of thing. The last original material they have is an EP, which seems like another decent place to start if you don't want to be overwhelmed...
edit: I also remember you taking a liking to The Thermals, so if you are looking for new things to listen to I highly recommend Superchunk if you haven't heard them.
