I can tell from this line you're a complete prick so I'll make this blunt. **** your opinion. Royce 5'9 (a rapper) is considered "Indie" it is "Indie rap", he's on an independent label therefore indie. It's the same for every other genre.

Just look at this message board. Scroll down to the "Inide & Alternative" section and look at the description; "Look here for an alternative to mainstream bands."

Regardless if it's punk, metal, thrash, grunge, speed metal, acoustic rock or japanese xylophone techno reggae pop. You are only "Indie" if signed to an independent label.
