Although I said to myself I won't buy music magazines anymore, as I always found myself a tad disappointed, I found myself purchasing that one for the sole purpose of getting that free CD:
A psychedelic compilation that flows so beautifully from start to finish. Listening to it for the first time, it truly gave me the impression of a concept album, maybe because there was an idea behind that project. In their words, "
A Monstrous Psychedelic Bubble is our manifesto for finding personal freedom in the truly psychedelic. What we've done is to trace back a lineage to the pivotal moment in '67, where the whole of culture exploded outwards". And I think they succeeded in doing whatever they were trying to express in that sentence. Though the first thing that caught my attention to that album, was the mentioning of one of my favourite 60s bands
July, a band that I found so tragically underrated. Of course
60s Psych, Amorphous Androgynous, Can, Donovan, The white noise ... I think I'll just write the complete track list.
Pop Levi - Blue Honey
The Yellow Moon Band - Entangled
July - Dandelion Seeds
the Amorphous Androgynous - Falling Down
Dungen - Satt Se (instrumental)
Donovan - Three Kingfishers
Can - Flow Motion
White Noise - Love without sound
Betty Davis - Game is my middle name
Ed Askew - Love is Everyone
Jean Claude Vannier - Les Mouches
Comus - Diana
Shogun Kinotichi - Mulberg
the Amorphous Androgynous - Opus of the black sun
It's all part of the Amorphous Androgynous series of compiled and mixed cosmic space music and multidimensional sounds from over four decades (Vol.1, Cosmic Space Music - Vol.2, Pagan Love Vibrations). I'll surely be purchasing or downloading these some time soon.
