Well I like some of the songs on Tormato, Onward is a lovely ballad and On The Silent Wings of Freedom is really damn good, and Don't Kill the Whale is still a good song, in a so bad it's good way, it has the worst lyrics I've ever heard and the cheesiest synthesizer solo in history, and even a horribly bad (and hilarious) music video. But it's still really catchy.
The thing is, you should just download those songs and skip everything else. Arriving UFO and Circus of Heaven are so awful and everything else is pretty mediocre, that and the incredibly cheesy production and tone of the instruments just brings the whole thing down. I don't know what kind of synthesizers and keyboards Wakeman was using here but they sound horrible, he was also using some mellotron knockoff he invented himself, which he dosen't even own anymore, because it sounds like sh*t. And I don't like whatever effects Squire was using on this album either, his playing is good as always, but his tone and that weird oscillating effect is just awful. Add to that Anderson thought it was a good idea to start writing lyrics that actually made sense, bad move. In fact everyone just sounds uninspired and lacking the energy they once had.
Tormato just sounds like everyone was getting tired of it all and just didn't care anymore, and just opted for using new effects to make people think they had new ideas.
