I bet that most of the same mechanisms of action are going on with both drugs for the most part. I know there is very little research on how the chemicals in Salvia interact with receptors in the brain, but I'm not sure about DMT. I'm sure eventually there will be enough study and I'm willing to bet that there would be a lot of similarities between the two.

if salvia wasn't short, i think it may have had some lasting consequences on my psyche. but...it is...and honestly i think salvia is my favorite psychedelic. i have a different experience every time i take it. i read somewhere that you brain could take 2 paths with it...either your mind is ready and it accepts what is about to happen and you end up going on a crazy trip or your mind freaks and goes into instinct mode. the latter is what happens on those youtube videos where the person flips and they have to hold him/her down until it is over.
there has been a lot of research done on dmt...and one scientist in particular has a theory about how it allows you to see parallel worlds. a lot of people who trip on it claim to see floating orbs of energy with perceived intelligence, weird lizard creatures, little tiny dwarves, or any number of "intelligent life" hallucinations. considering the evolutionary paths life could take in the world, all these visions makes sense (at least to me). who knows.
