Yeah I mentioned The Birthday Party. It's odd, for the fact that they had so little commercial success during their time, their influence seems to be pretty far-reaching and I've heard people mention them several times on here which always surprises me.

oh i'd say they're far more influential than the Bad Seeds ever will be. you had a veritable revolution at the onset of the eighties, bands willing to use noise as a medium rather than a hindrance, and i think the Birthday Party successfully earned their place in history. and if you look back on the alternative epochs of the late eighties, bands like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., The Jesus Lizard, and so on, it's pretty easy to see where they draw influence from, and i think the Birthday Party is well within those limits.
