Really? Because it seems to be a trend right now.
2D platformers have always stuck around on the handhelds. But now we have new 2D Mario, Wario, Contra, Mega Man and Castlevania games on the Wii, with 2D Sonic, Kirby and Metroid games coming up. Old franchises like Adventure Island and Bonk are making a comeback on Wii-Ware, PS Network and Xbox Live Arcade is getting a new Rocket Knight game. And we've seen ancient franchises like Punch Out and Bionic Commando return from the grave.
There's even a new Boy and his Blob for the Wii, can you f*cking believe that? 2D platforming is making a
huge comeback.
