it's hardly accurate or fair to call the band members the leftovers of their respective bands.

Cornell was the main creative force behind Soundgarden and had one of the most distinctive voices in 90s rock. throat surgery in the late 90s and age is why it doesn't live up anymore.

Morello is often cited as one of the more creative guitarists of the 90s (regardless of my feelings on the hack).

so, they aren't really leftovers, but just like every other supergroup that has ever been, they lack the chemistry that made their original bands special. Audioslave is a completely corporate sum of its parts, there's no magic je ne sais quoi that elevates them to legitimate greatness aside from a desire by the fans of their previous groups to continue elevating their heroes in hopes that it will somehow amount to anything.

the sad truth is, elevating them based on their old bands just means they fall farther whenever the inevitable breakup of the supergroup happens.... now featuring TIMBALAND! wooooo......
