His other books tend to vary in quality after Trainspotting, some are OK and others are just downright awful. None of them have that same charming spark that Trainspotting had. The only one that even comes close is The Acid House which is more of a collection of short stories and a novella. If you could find it at the library, I would recommend reading Trainspotting's sequel, Porno, but don't spend money on it because it's not really that good. His 2006 book, Bedroom Secrets of the Master Chefs was alright and was kind of like a more modern version of The Picture of Dorian Grey by Oscar Wilde. He put out a second collection of short stories called If You Liked School, You'll Love Work, but I didn't find it very engaging and never bothered to finish it before I donated it to a library. If you do go on to read Porno, be sure to read Glue afterwards because a few of the characters introduced in Porno made their debut in that one. It's sort of like Trainspotting but set maybe a decade later and less about recreational drug use.

Apparently Irvine Welsh is working on a prequel to Trainspotting called Skagboys, but I haven't been able to find a release date yet.
