as for the online service, it's a fickle thing, it depends on your location and the popularity of the title you're trying to enjoy. getting cut off when you're up 4-0 probably has more to do with the other player being a poor loser and disconnecting than anything else.
the PSP only really started to shine when it started being used in conjunction with the PS3. it was 'ok' before, but never really beat out the DS or DSi for portable gaming fun.

I have a mixed bag, a few friends prefer the PS3, most of them prefer the Xbox. I've always been inbetween the two. Never really found what I wanted until now.
I thought the same thing as you but it cut off, I went to my player hub, and he got the win. Because I got cut off. Not the other way round.
I've never ever heard of the PSP being any use to the PS3 tbh, so I'm unfamiliar with what it does.
I'm glad no one has used "the ps3 has blu ray" argument yet.
