I'll never understand how people can focus on shooting something or someone when you can't hear them what's going on in the game world.
The online community on Ps3 seems like its thriving to me, but I've only owned a Ps3 for a couple of years so I can't say how it was earlier.
I think I know what you mean when you say that though b/c the online community on xbox is way more organized. I often find myself wondering why the Ps3 doesn't have a system (not one I can find anyway) of reporting people for misconduct, or why do I have to go to messages to accept an invite but those are minor annoyances that don't ruin the experience for me.

Well, I was playing COD WOW before, and I was listening to Free Bird and you can hear the background noise as well, it sounds like something in a movie, where the music is playing but you can still hear what's going on. The PS3 is really missing that. I have an IPod dock as well but I'd much rather play it on the Xbox.
Even a month or so ago, I tried to play a game of Fifa 10 and it took a while to connect. 5 minutes for a match, I was 4-0 up once and the connection went. It wasn't my internet's fault so I assume it was the PS3's fault.
As for the reporting people thing, I think it's better that the PS3 doesn't have one. Not that I've ever been an absolute prick that mouths off over a headset but I suppose it gives you more license to have some banter. (If you're into that sort of thing)
