i'll stick to my guns and say that Vines were coming from a totally different angle - that first album was ridiculously 60s punctuated with some grunge screamers, i dont see where the Hives or the Strokes fit into the equation with them, probably because they don't!

Listening to the Strokes a helluva lot right now actually, first two albums are still f*cking amazing
You could be right, i haven't listened to them for a long time.

I still love the first Strokes album. The second was a little bit of a let down for me overall but theres certainly some decent tunes on it.
