The two films don't make for a stark comparison, considering the similarities they share - continuous swearing and drug/drink intake, irreverent style, brilliant scripts... they are both classic comedies imo, i watched both countless times growing up and in college... although Withnail has a more bittersweet edge to it than BL that may not appeal to some
