My favourite from him is Night Watch
Although all Discworld books except the two first stand well on their own, events in one book do carry over in the next. Different books are about different people and Night Watch is, of course, about the City Watch with the main character being commander Samuel Vimes. As such, it may be a more rewarding read to if you start earlier in the City Watch chronology before you tackle Night Watch which is fairly late, Thud! being the only watch book after it.
- Guards! Guards!
- Men at Arms
- Feet of Clay
- Jingo
- The Fifth Elephant
- Night Watch
- Thud!
These are the books that are about the Watch. Guards! Guards! is okay, but they get really good with Men at Arms. Men at Arms, Feet of Clay and Jingo are all brilliant, I think, then The Fifth Elephant is also good and Night Watch is the best! Thud! pales in comparison.
So, if you want, you can just read Night Watch - or - you could start with Guards! Guards! or Men at Arms and read your way up to it which will be more rewarding, but of course you'd have to get your hands on the books.
