If you don't want to physically open up your computer, go here:
CPUID and download the 64bit version (I'm assuming you're running Vista 64, from the info you gave about your processor), unzip the file and run the CPU-Z.exe

It will give you your RAM type, along with other data.
Ideally, you'll want to buy a matching stick, but the important thing is TYPE and SIZE.
If you have one 1gig stick, you need to buy one 1gig stick to match it. If your current RAM is, say DDR3, then the stick you buy needs to be DDR3 as well. If you can get the same name-brand, fine, but it's not necessary.

Once you buy the stick, you'll need to install it, so at that point you can simply google "step by step install RAM" and include what type of computer you have, whether it's a laptop or desktop.
The installation process isn't hard.. it's simply a matter of plugging it in and turning on your computer.
