Heh, well obviously the Australian and American schooling systems are incredibly different then! Because in the last couple of decades or so our schools have taken a huge turn and focus on all the things I mentioned and steer clear of all that memorization/ROTE learning stuff.
It actually makes me sad to think that schools in other parts of the world are still stuck in that mindset.
