It probably does have more to do with who you surround yourself with. I'm probably the opposite in which most people I hang around believe in God so I get more of that reaction but it does go both ways. I guess the news is also partially to blame for my perception because there are far more stories about christians making a fuss over things than athiests.
It's not to say that everyone who believes in God are the same way. My mom believes in God and doesn't get upset that I don't but then you get my dad, like I mentioned above.
The worst kind are the people who are so hung up on believing/not believing that they talk down to people who believe the opposite. It's sad that people just can't accept that everyone has their own views. One guy at my work asked me if I believed in God and I got a lecture from him and he just went on and on and on telling me that God judges me, etc.
If people want to discuss religion, I love that because I like to hear their side and I like to share my side, but trying to shove things down a person's throat, no thanks.
