Seriously, none of those artists have anything in common and I can't think of any other bands that combined those influences in 1977. They took a whole range of influences that no band before them thought of combining.

....no seriously, he removed the jangle out of playing power chords...just a constant downstroke....thrash, hardcore punk,etc. owe him a huge debt....it's like saying chuck berry just played blues riffs...but the way he played them was really innovative.
