The Go! Team sounds like inspirational experimental-pop, really uptempo, high sugar level, new millenium super hero music. All in all, I think they sound pretty good, and like you suggested, a nice change of pace from the current trend of new wave clones.
And btw, they let you sample 3 songs from their website. That's always a plus.
