Satch - that album looks awesome - I hadn't heard of it previously. I looked it up - '68 w/ Ro Haynes with an exciting looking setlist (anyway the song titles of the original comps are intriquing plus the bonus tracks include Pannonica and My One and Only Love (if I recall)).
What do you think of "Akoustik Band" LP from the 80's w/ Weckle and Patitucci? I love that album and it was the rage when it was current and I was in school w/ all the talk of Weckle's legendary 16 hr-per-day practice regimen and the state-of the art Yamaha (again if I recall) drum kits, instruments and recording techniques. I personally think all that holds up as well as the performances, the orig compositions and standards included, making it still one of my fav's and I imagine one of the best done by a trio. if you're familiar with it too let me know what you think of it and how Sings/Sobs compares. I think it will be interesting to compare the two specimens from the two eras.
Ron - I love Tain's drummin'. I love his Citizen Tain LP but not as much his Bar Talk LP. I'd love to see him play. I guess I wouldn't mind checking out his live Blue Note LP and maybe the one you got there. Do you have Citizen Tain? Does this one compare? Thx.
