Again this is a greatest guitarist list, not a best guitarist list, which is really a more subjective topic. Not saying this is completely objective of course.

This list would be very different if it were only my personal preference. Chuck Berry above Steve Howe in preference? Puleeeeze. I admit my biases have factored in a little bit, particularly the lower placement of metal shred guitarists. But overall I try to push my own subjective opinions aside and think about how much overall importance and impact a guitarist has.

With Frusciante, he's a great player. But people overstate his importance quite a bit just because he's a big name, I often see him topping guitarist lists, usually way ahead of players like Hazel and Cropper, with Jimmy Nolen and D Boon not getting any mention whatsoever. Frusciante wouldn't even exist without those guys.
